This week marks 6 years of Blue Seven Studio 👏

Starting a business at 22 taught me pretty quickly that there is no real shortcut when you’re building something from the ground up, especially when you’re bootstrapping.

A lot of the “secret” to growing a business is honestly just being willing to put in the hours, stay consistent, and keep showing up through the stressful seasons, the slow seasons, and the moments where you genuinely feel like you have no idea what you’re doing.

Over the last 6 years, a few things have really stood out to me.

decision-making gets easier

With time comes experience, and eventually you start facing situations you’ve already handled before. What once felt overwhelming starts to feel manageable because you’ve learned how to work through challenges instead of panicking through them.

boundaries matter more than I realized

In the beginning, I used to feel guilty if I wasn’t answering emails late at night or on weekends. Over time, I learned that building a sustainable business also means protecting your life outside of work.

Burnout is real, and longevity matters.

you start recognizing patterns

Hiring seasons, busy seasons, client workloads, growth cycles... things become less reactive and more predictable over time.

One of the biggest shifts in business ownership comes from realizing that not every stressful moment is a crisis. Many things are simply part of the natural rhythm of growth.

team culture matters

Building and managing a team is one of the hardest and most important parts of growing a company.

Protecting your company culture matters. Hiring the right people matters. Communication matters. And sometimes, having difficult conversations is part of being a business owner too.

sales becomes more natural

After years of sales calls and well over 1,000 consultations, you start recognizing pretty quickly when something feels like the right fit for both sides.

One thing I’ve learned is that not every opportunity is meant to work out, and that’s okay. The best partnerships are built on trust, alignment, and mutual respect.

most businesses grow slowly behind the scenes

One of the biggest things I’ve learned over the years is that most successful businesses are built very slowly behind the scenes.

A lot of hard work happens long before anyone sees the results publicly.

To the fellow business owners reading this: keep going. The difficult seasons are part of the process, and chances are, more people relate to what you’re experiencing than you realize.

And to everyone who has supported Blue Seven Studio over the last 6 years, clients, contractors, employees, referrals, friends, and family, thank you. I’m incredibly grateful.

Cheers to the next 6 🥂
