At Blue Seven, a full Marketing Strategy is one of my favorite services we offer. I truly believe it’s one of the smartest investments you can make in your business. It forces you to take a step back and look at the full picture, every piece of your brand, audience, and goals, before diving headfirst into random marketing tactics that might waste time, energy, and money.
Over the past few years at Blue Seven, I’ve had the pleasure of working on 5 Marketing Strategy projects with my team and each one has been completely different. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all marketing. Every strategy we create is built around the individual business, its challenges, and its future vision.
Our Marketing Strategy service is a 6-week deep dive into your business, your audience, your goals, and your opportunities. We’re building something that aligns directly with your vision, not just where you are now, but where you want to be.
Here’s what really happens behind the scenes when we build a strategy, what we do, why it matters, and what you walk away with.
Step 1: Understanding Your Business
We start with a detailed questionnaire. It covers everything from your unique selling points and ideal customers to your current roadblocks and business goals. This helps us get a solid understanding of where your brand is now and where you want it to go.
Then we schedule a kickoff call (usually an hour, sometimes longer) where we talk through everything in more depth. We talk about your past experiences with marketing – what’s worked, what hasn’t, what’s frustrated you and how you’d like a marketing team to fit into your business. We also zoom out and talk about your business goals from 6 months to 5 years, so we can build a plan that supports your journey.
This conversation helps us align early and make sure we’re building a strategy that works for your actual needs and not just what looks good on paper.
Step 2: Research + Brand Discovery (Weeks 1–2)
Once we’re aligned, our team gets to work. This process takes about six weeks and more than 30 hours of collective effort. The first two weeks are focused on deep diving into your brand, your industry, and your audience.
Here’s what happens behind the scenes:
We analyze your audience and evaluate whether you’re reaching the right people.
We conduct competitor research and market analysis to spot opportunities.
We complete a SWOT analysis to better understand where you stand.
We audit your current marketing and assess where the gaps are.
We evaluate every potential marketing channel to identify what’s underperforming, what’s missing, and where the biggest opportunities are to drive results.
These first two weeks are about gaining clarity so we’re not guessing – we’re building on data, trends, and market reality.
Step 3: Strategy Development (Weeks 3–4)
With all the research in hand, we move into the strategy-building phase. This is where your communication strategy really starts to take shape.
As a team, we identify:
The right mix of marketing channels for your business
How each channel will support your growth
The messaging that will connect with your ideal audience
Clear KPIs to track success
While the research phase is critical for our team to ensure we’re building the strongest possible strategy, I’ve noticed that clients get most excited once we shift into the communication strategy. This is where things become real and actionable. This part of the final presentation is where we outline exactly what to do, how to do it, and why it matters.
Step 4: Refinement + Finalization (Weeks 5–6)
In the final two weeks, we tighten everything up. We organize our insights, finalize messaging, and make sure the strategy is clear, focused, and tailored specifically to your business.
This is where we bring it all together into a presentation, one that flows logically, feels inspiring, and most importantly, gives you a roadmap you can actually follow.
Step 5: Presentation
Finally, we hop on a call to go through the strategy together.
We walk you through the whole thing and keep it super conversational. We always want you to feel involved and confident in the plan. Ask questions, give input, flag anything that doesn’t feel quite right, that’s all part of the process. Here, we’re not just handing over a document and disappearing. This is your business, your baby, and we want you to feel like this plan is something you own.
One thing I always remind clients of during this phase is that just because we present a lot of ideas and possibilities doesn’t mean you have to do every single one right away, especially if you’re planning to keep things in-house. We’ll talk about what you can reasonably do yourself, what you may need help with, and what’s worth prioritizing based on your goals and budget.
Whether you decide to hire Blue Seven to help execute it, or take the reins internally, you’ll leave with a solid, personalized strategy that you can start putting into action immediately.
